We all know that most modern home renovation shows owe their popularity to "This Old House." After all, it's been airing since the 1970s. So, it's no wonder that plenty of fans are curious about when O'Connor (and the rest of the "This Old House" crew) think about the onslaught of new shows. O'Connor made his feelings very clear in an interview with Charles & Hudson. "On the other hand, there's a lot of crap out there too. I can think of a dozen shows and websites that wouldn't hold my interest for a nanosecond."

The house, built in the late 1800s, was converted to a two-family home in the 1920s. The O'Connors wanted to keep the home as a two-family, but recognized that the home needed a lot of work. The pair had already begun renovations when the cameras arrived, and continued to stay heavily involved in the work throughout the episode. Fans cannot help but admire certain cast members who have gone above and beyond to showcase their expertise in various aspects of home renovations.
O'Connor wasn't too sure about becoming a TV host
On March 19, 2021, TZP Growth Partners completed the sale of This Old House Ventures to Roku. To celebrate its 30th anniversary season, This Old House worked with Nuestra Comunidad to renovate a foreclosed home in Boston's Roxbury neighborhood. O'Connor is a popular podcast host

The third series to share the name is Inside This Old House, a retrospective featuring highlights from previous episodes.
Old episodes are also shown under the program name This Old House Classics and were formerly shown on The Learning Channel under the name The Renovation Guide. As of 2006[update], Classics are also carried on the commercial non-broadcast DIY Network as well as syndicated to local TV stations. Newcomer status didn’t faze Austin; it seemed only to make him work harder, to want more. He worked and embraced this opportunity as if he were in hurry, as if he knew that time was short. In its over four decades on the air, "This Old House" has had three different theme songs. The first theme song was called "Louisiana Fairy Tale." Ross Trethewey is the shows building engineer and leads the TV segment called "Future House", covering home automation and related technology. "Ask This Old House" is another spinoff from the original series and was released in 2002.
