Dropcam was a a real innovator in security home security cameras. Eventually they were purchased by nest and then Nest was purchased by Google. I own four Dropcam Pros and they are great cameras.
Your camera will chime and its light ring will start spinning yellow. When the light ring starts spinning blue, release the button. Your camera’s lights will turn off while it’s resetting.

It was nice to be able to go back and see what took place in the middle of the night, but if you use the motion notifications, you can quickly login and catch the action. Initial Dropcam Setup

I don’t understand why Nest doesn’t include mounts designed for surveillance purposes. There are a lot of innovative mounts from third parties worth a look to truly turn the DropCam Pro into a better security solution. You should use the Nest app on your phone to set up your camera and connect it to Wi-Fi. If you have difficulty or get an error in the mobile app, you can set up some older Google Nest camera models on a computer, instead. Why not bust buy a proper security camera system with local storage.
Although new Dropcam users get two weeks of CVR service, you'll need to pay to continue using it. Access to the last seven days of footage costs $9.95 per month or $99 per year; accessing the last 30 days will set you back $29.95 per month or $299 per year. Otherwise, you'll only be able to view the live feed. The cameras have excellent night vision capabilities. Unfortunately the camera on its own isn’t waterproof so I maintain a position on one of my windowsills in the den.
Open the list of available WiFi networks and look for an available network with the name “GoogleHomeXXXX . … If you can successfully connect to the Google Home SSID in your WiFi settings, open the Google Home app and try setting up the device. You could use Dropcam to allow your customers to check how long the queue is before they pop down for a haircut. You could live stream a performance to your customers who aren’t able to be there. The great thing about Dropcam is that you can use it as a security device but it also doubles up as a promotional tool if you use it in a smart way.
Follow the prompts to configure the Dropcam software and Wi-Fi connectivity. It is also important to remember NOT to unplug the camera from the laptop or computer until there is an alert prompting you to do so. Once on the browser, log into your existing Dropcam account or create a new account and login.
Dropcam explains that the device’s back is specifically designed to act as a heat-sink. If you happen to touch Dropcam and you find it warm touch, don’t panic. The developers claim that it is not uncommon to happen.
Look for the Devices category in the Finder window’s sidebar. You should see your Nest Cam or Dropcam listed underneath “Devices”.
It’s still not a bad photo, but you will find the infrared sensors work against the camera as the reflection shines in the window so you will need to turn that feature off. You will also find the status light also gets in the way so you will need to turn that off too. However, if you decide to get rewinds of previous recordings, you may have to pay $9.95 a month. If you want to have it for a whole month, you may need to add an additional $29.95.
